In our family, it is a tradition that we give to those who have less than us, and one time we especially like to do this is during the holidays. During this time of year, we are given and give each other so many blessings that we in turn try to give back to others. It has been very good for teaching our children about those less fortunate than us.
This year, we decided to adopt a child with World Vision, and it has been a wonderful experience. It has taught my children and myself that when we feel like complaining, we only need to remember our "child," Jaypaul Gude from India, who lives in a straw hut, his parents struggling to provide. That brings everything into perspective pretty quickly.
There are many other ways to give to others. You could give to your local food bank, help a friend or family member who is struggling, or even donate to cancer research. One place to donate to this great cause is cureLauncher.com. It is designed to advocate for and fund clinical trials and medical research projects to advance this ground-breaking, life-saving research along as fast as possible.
However you decide you'd like to give to others, it is important to just do it. Sometimes, we spend too much time thinking about giving and not actually giving. Make a difference this holiday season! Let your light shine!

We usually adopt an angel from our church angel tree, but they were all gone. This year we helped put together Christmas for the family that is friends of my daughter and her family. They were doing well, but health issues have put them close to the edge. Gifts, groceries and other help are on their way. We also donate every year to the local animal shelter. We have sponsored a child in Guatemala for the past 3 years. There are so many areas where we can make a difference. It takes a bit of time and effort and sometimes money, but it is worth it.
