You may think that the words Healthy Holiday Party don't belong in the same sentence, but let me assure you they do. It is possible to pull off a holiday party that is both healthy and full of fun!
We are hosting a little New Years Eve party this year, and I am getting excited to go grocery shopping today for some yummy recipes and treats. I am also going to look for some fun decor and centerpieces.
For the menu, I am going for yummy, comfort food-style treats that I can prep in advance. I am going to make sure there are plenty of vegetarian options and as many organic foods as possible.
Here are some of the things I am planning on:
Appetizers:
*Organic carrot sticks and tortilla chips with a Mexican bean dip
*Chips and fresh salsa
*Veggie and cheese Quesadillas
*Fresh veggies and herb dip (made with organic plain yogurt)
*Salted popcorn
Desserts:
*Delicious, crockpot fudge made with organic chocolate chips, coconut milk and vanilla
*Apple and oatmeal crisp
Drink:
*champagne
*organic vodka and organic juice
What do you think? Does it sound tasty, yet still full of healthy options? I think so, and I think it will be a great time full of wonderful memories. Think about a few tweaks you could make to your holiday parties or dinners to make them a bit more healthy. A little effort can go a long way!

All of these healthy appetizers are wonderful for a party and also for everyday snacking. I would also add some hummus for a delicious dip. The crockpot fudge sounds fantastic and I would love to make that.

Good options here. It is hard, even when healthy options are available, to behave and not chose some of the others that sit there and tempt. The only way for me is to have nothing but healthy stuff and no temptation. I do love food and enjoy savoring the tastes and textures. I am learning to take smaller portions which is helping. I'll need to remember these options when planning to help keep me in line.
