Speed Up Your Metabolism - The Key to Losing Weight!

Yes, your metabolism is in your control. Yes, it does start to slowdown after age 40, but don’t fret. With some healthy changes, you can actually make your metabolism rev higher!

Eat the right foods! Here are 12 foods that will burn fat like crazy!
1.     Citrus Fruits
2.    Wild Alaskan Salmon
3.    Walnuts
4.    Eggs
5.    Quinoa
6.    Avocado
7.    Artichokes
8.    Lentils
9.    Blackberries
10. Kefir
11.  Dark leafy greens like spinach and kale
12. Organic Coffee or Green Tea

Eat breakfast! If go past an hour of waking up without eating, you just hit the pause button on your metabolism. When your brain senses your stomach is empty, it sends a message to your cells to conserve energy in case another meal doesn’t arrive. That means it holds onto fat! Eating breakfast tells your brain to start burning calories and turning food into energy!

Eat more protein and less sugar! I am always talking about protein and for good reason! Consuming protein stimulates the cells that are responsible for switching on your body’s calorie-burning mechanism. Eat meals of at least ¼ protein every three or four hours. Also, remember, sugar is your enemy. That also includes simple carbs like white bread, rolls, tortillas, desserts and more. All this sugar can lead to insulin resistance, which is a very real problem for all of us with all the processed, packaged foods in our diets. This sugar will mess with your metabolism and cause your body to store extra calories as fat.

Exercise, Exercise, Exercise! You already know how awesome exercise is! But, let me remind you it affects your metabolism while you are exercising and up to 24 hours after you finish. This is especially true if you do the high intensity interval training we do and truly challenge yourself. Remember, the more muscle you have, the more fat you burn all day.

  1. All good suggestions. There are a few foods I didn't know about, but I was aware of the rest. My problem is getting myself to buckle down and do them. Exercise is my weakest point.
