Friday Fun!

Living healthy natural lives is not always the easiest thing, which is why I started my blog - to inspire and help others live their best life healthfully and naturally. Friday Fun is my way of sharing a bit of my life with you, my readers and friends, and I hope you will be willing to share your thoughts and ideas with me too.

So, here we go!

In my life this week...
Hot! Hot! Hot! We've had a huge heat wave of upper 90's this whole week, and it has been rough. We don't have central air, and we can't use the air in our car, because of major problems with the exhaust system, so....I have been sweating. a lot. Yuck!

More importantly, this week my son started Kindergarten. The first day, I was a mess. I cried on and off all day until I picked him up. I almost pulled him out of school and decided to homeschool. But, as days 3 and 4 came around, I was feeling a bit better. I know going to school is the right choice for him. It may not be for all my children, but it is for my son. And I am enjoying hearing about his day, being partners with his teacher to help him the best we can, and getting him out of his comfort zone with all the newness of school.

I am inspired by...
the variety, beauty and majesty of all the trees and flowers outside. I took some time this morning to enjoy them. It is amazing to think about how thoughtful God was when creating the world. He didn't just make one kind of tree. He made thousands of different varieties - in different colors, sizes, and smells. I just love sitting by one of our huge trees, thinking about how long it has been there, what it has withstood, and how much it has contributed to our lives.

My favorite thing this week was...
picking my son up from school. There is nothing as cute as seeing him walk over to me with his backpack on and that shy little smile on his face.

What's working/not working for me...
Working - Being more sensitive to my sensitive children and their ever-changing emotions. I have been taking more time to understand the depth of what they are feeling and why. It has made a big impact to help them sort through their feelings and calm down when they are upset.

Not working - The heat! Ughh! That kind of intense humid heat usually gives me horrible migraines. I have been lucky enough only to have 2 minor ones the last week, that I was able to manage pretty well with Apple Cider Vinegar, OmegaGuard, B Complex, water and Peppermint oil.

Questions/thoughts I have...
Why am I so blessed while others' lives are seemingly so terrible? (For instance, slavery, sex trafficking, abuse...) You may think those are extreme examples, but that kind of stuff is real for many people everyday.

I'm reading...
A Light to my Path by Lynn Austen, Encouragement for Today Devotional by Proverbs 31 Team, 1000 Gifts by Ann Voskamp, and lots of children's books!

I'm cooking...
Salmon and sweet potato fries, Homemade Spicy Hamburgers, Homemade Refrigerator Pickles, Crockpot Chicken Tacos, Cucumber salad

I'm grateful for...
volunteer squash plants and tomato plants growing in my garden, giggling, dancing, days off, rain, and fresh tomatoes!

A photo, video, link, or quote to share...

Here's a pic of my son on his first day of school!
