Whole30 Challenge - Day 4

I almost quit last night....I was so close.

I had a headache all day yesterday that got worse as the day went on. I went to a Pilates class at 8 pm, and by the time I got home from that, I had a severe migraine. I felt like throwing up, my head and neck were throbbing, and I could hardly open my eyes. Thinking about eating meat or eggs the next day only made me feel more sick.

That is when I realized that I cannot do this much longer. I certainly can't take care of my kids in that condition. As I lay in bed all night, I went back and forth about quitting. I even prayed about it. Then, I woke up this morning with just a slight headache and feeling better about the whole thing.

I had a banana and cashews, did a great workout, ate fried eggs and raw carrots, and I felt back on top of the world. I saw a blog post from the Whole30 website about what you will probably experience the first week. Reading and understanding why my body was doing this gave me the resolve I needed to re-commit myself and stay with it.

So far, day 4 is shaping up to go pretty well. I am planning on making two new recipes - a ground turkey and spiced apple skillet for supper and shrimp salad for lunch.

I will let you know how those taste and share the recipes tomorrow. Until then, I am keeping my fingers crossed that the headache doesn't return.

  1. I admire your tenacity. Headaches make it so difficult to cope with much of anything. It is true that after a bad one you are so happy not to have it anymore, things look better. I sincerely hope you are over "the hump" and things will be easier from now on.

    1. You are so right! Things always seem wayyyy better when you have just gotten over a headache, especially a migraine. They make you appreciate any non-headache days!
