Oh, how I love the convenience of a slow cooker! Instead of trying to cook while my screaming kids are getting into everything from flour to oatmeal to pots and pans, fighting about who gets to play with what, and begging me to let them come and sit up on the counter, I can avoid the chaos by making healthy meals when they are taking naps and have them slowly cook until supper time. Plus, who doesn't love the smell of dinner simmering in the slow cooker?
I was more than happy to receive the Best of Bridge Slow Cooker Cookbook and start trying out new recipes in my slow cooker. This book is written by Sally Vaughan-Johnston and Best of Bridge — the team that brought you Bravo! and Fan Fare!
One of my favorite parts about this cookbook is how sturdy and well-made it is. It is spiral bound and hardcover, so you can have the book open flat on the counter instead of trying to get it to stop flopping shut as you follow along with the recipes.
I also love how they have all kinds of tips and tricks for using your slow cooker in the front of the book. I learned some handy tips such as "bell pepper, fresh chile peppers and some dried seasonings, such as paprika and chili powder can turn bitter during long cooking, so add them near the end."
With recipe categories like all-day breakfast, soups, turkey and chicken, meatless mains, and side dishes, this is a very easy-to-use, practical cookbook that you could use every day, if you wanted!
I can't wait to try making honey nuts and chipotle cashews. With only five ingredients each, the recipes look very simple, flavorful and delicious! They would make great, healthy snacks or perfect party treats.
You can buy the Best of Bridge Slow Cooker Cookbook online on Amazon or other retailers.

I need to start using my slow cooker more often. I am looking for good, flavorful recipes that the whole family can enjoy. I will have to look into this book.
