Friday Fun - Christmas Edition!

Living healthy natural lives is not always the easiest thing, which is why I started my blog - to inspire and help others live their best life healthfully and naturally. I want to give you examples of how I am doing it through weekly updates, and I am hoping some of you will be willing to share your thoughts and ideas too.

So, here we go! I hope this helps and inspires all of you!

In my life this week...
Merry Christmas! I hope everyone had a wonderful couple of days celebrating our Savior's birth! My son did his Christmas program in church, which was so special. He was the loudest one and the love and excitement in his expressions was just so genuine!! My husband had to work on Christmas Eve, but he made it in time for church. We had a great time with my whole family, laughing, celebrating and enjoying gifts and food! Since then, I have been spending time over at my mom's house to soak in all the time I can with my sister's and brother's who aren't here very often.

I am inspired by...
Mary, Jesus' mother. I was watching the movie, "The Nativity" the other day, and it really brought home to me how hard it must have been for her - people thinking that she is scandalous and (being pregnant before marriage) maybe a little crazy talking about an angel coming to her. Then, she has to journey to Bethlehem, which is a really really long way, especially on foot and when you are almost ready to have a baby. Last, she had to labor and deliver in a dirty, grungy room. She had no nurses to help her out. She had Joseph. And the rest she probably had to figure out on her own. The miracle of that birth! So awesome!

My favorite thing this week was...
Spending time with family, realizing how amazingly blessed I am!! Family means so much, and the time I spend with mine is priceless.

What's working/not working for me...
Working -getting ready for the New Year's Eve party we are hosting. I think I have all the food bought, so that is one thing I can check off my list. The house is semi-clean, but with three little ones, I will have to clean it 10 more times before then.

Not working -sugar cravings! With all the sugar and junk food around, it is hard to eat healthy. I am looking forward to getting back on track with my first Whole30 on Jan. 1st.

Questions/thoughts I have for you....
Side note: I am changing this category to questions for all of YOU, because I love hearing from you, my readers. You are full of endless wisdom and experiences I can learn from. So, this week, my question is a simple one - What was your favorite things about your Christmas this year?

Things I'm working on...
getting ready for New Years Eve party, cleaning up after all the Christmas fun, trying to get my kids back on a normal routine.

I'm reading...
still reading Gods and Kings by Lynn Austin and lots of new books with my kids.

I'm cooking...
Chicken and apple sausage stir fry, spaghetti, lots of scrambled eggs and veggies, peanut butter chewy bars, shrimp and cream cheese dip...

I'm grateful for...
the amazing love God has for us all that he would send his one and only Son to save us from all the ways we have sinned against Him. It is unfathomable when you sit and think about it...

  1. Thanks for sharing the picture! My favorite thing about Christmas this year was spending it with my new husband. Least favorite was being away from the rest of my family! :)

  2. Lovely family and picture. I am kicking myself. We had all our children and their families here Christmas Day and it wasn't until after they left that I realized we didn't take any pictures. My husband and I were busy fixing dinner and I was in charge of doing presents afterwards. We sat around visiting afterwards and just never thought to get the camera out. We were just en joying visiting.

Best part of the day: I had our 18 month old granddaughter hand the gifts to everyone. My daughter thought she would want to keep them for herself, but no, she was having so much fun handing them out she didn't want to stop to open her own.

I had my two 14 year old grandsons over to back cookies the day before Christmas. We had fun, but their mom discovered a rather risque gingerbread man when she came to pick them up. I'll have to watch them a bit more carefully next time.

I enjoyed the food and unfortunately many of those cookies are still around the house. I enjoy them more the days after Christmas. We still have a lot going on and meals are a bit haphazard. I am trying to behave, but know it will be after New Years Day before things will even out.
