Calma Bottle For Breastfed Babies

While I choose to breastfeed my babies, there are sometimes I can't always be there when they want to feed. Sometimes I have a fitness class right when my beautiful one starts to let out their hungry cry. That is why I am thankful for my pump and the right type of bottle to make this transition go smoothly.

I love, love, love Calma, a new woman and infant breastfeeding innovation that Medela recently launched in the U.S.  Calma is a research-based nipple used with a BPA-free breastmilk bottle designed to allow babies to maintain their natural feeding behavior and transition from bottle back to breast with ease.
What’s unique about Calma is the vacuum technology in the Calma nipple, which is vastly different from a conventional bottle nipple, which may disrupt normal feeding behavior and contribute to a difficult transition from bottle to breast. Milk flows freely from a standard bottle nipple even if the baby is not actively sucking — a feature unlike that of the breast. Calma’s technology allows babies to continue their natural feeding behavior as if they were at the breast, making it easier for babies to transition back to breastfeeding.

This bottle honestly does not drip! Your baby needs to apply a certain level of vacuum in order to get milk out, just like in breastfeeding. Plus, Calma helps avoid gassiness because it is vented through their unique air control system.

Besides all of that, I love that Calma is BPA free, since many bottles are not. And I love that this bottle is a one-size-fits all, so it continues to fit your baby as your baby grows. That makes sense to me, because as you know, our nipples stay the same over the course of breastfeeding our babies, so the Calma one-size feature works too!

If you are like me, and you love breastfeeding your child, but sometimes have to be away when a feeding is taking place, this is the perfect bottle for the job! Or perhaps you started out exclusively breastfeeding, but then found out you had to supplement, this bottle will be perfect for you too! Whatever your situation, you can count on Medela to bring you another great product with their Calma bottle.

You can buy the Calma at many different online stores or at your nearest store. The Calma will eliminate one more thing from your worry list as a parent...

  2. My daughter uses these and really likes them. Having to work full time while nursing an infant has been a challenge. A good pump system and good bottles made it easier. I have used these bottles when babysitting and like them.
