I am always talking about metabolism to my fitness clients, because it is so important to whole health. It is like a fire burning inside of you - a calorie burning fire!! You want that fire red hot, and you want to feed it continually to keep your body working for you instead of against you.
A healthy metabolism is super important, so let's get right down to the facts.
Did you know your metabolism raises or lowers your appetite in response to the number of calories your body needs on a given day? If your metabolism is working as it should, your weight will stay steady. If it malfunctions, that equation gets thrown off - not what you want. Sluggish metabolism = either slow, slow calorie burn or a huge appetite increase = excess fat.
If your body can't process all the extra food you are eating, your pancreas pumps out more insulin to try to help your body store that fuel. The problem is - this can result in you becoming insulin-resistant. That is how type 2 diabetes develops. Thumbs down to that!
This can all lead to your bad LDL cholesterol going down and now you've upped your risk of a heart attack.
By keeping your body healthy and your metabolism strong, just think about all you are doing for your body, even deep down where you can't see the effects??? Worth all that sweat and hard work? I think so!!
What can you do to keep a healthy metabolism?
Pick protein!!
Relax and try to de-stress as much as possible.
Work out your body almost every day, with a mix of cardio and body sculpting.
Eat healthy food, like plants of all kinds.
And last, but not least, get 7-8 hours of sleep each night.
Feed that fire!!
