7 Weeks to 300 Sit-Ups.....Book Review

I'm working on it, I am.....my core that is. Over the past year or so, I've come to realize that no matter how strong any part of my body is (other than my mind) that the core is more important than any other. I'm not alone in this thinking. Brett Stewart, author of 7 weeks to 300-Sit-Ups says it better than I can-"Every move you make from the moment you get out of bed-actually, even the act of climbing out of the sack-uses your core." Makes sense to me!

I found that this book does a lot to make sense of a lot of things. For instance, the book talks about the "rumor" that sit-ups are bad for you. I'll admit, I thought this....until I read about how the proper form is all that is needed. I forgot that there is a difference between a crunch and a sit-up...the book explains all the details.

What about other questions you have about sit-ups, such as: Are they bad for my back? Can I get a six pack? How should I breath for each movement? Should I be sore? When should I work out? The book does a great job of answering all of these questions. Then, before you even begin the actual work, the book walks you through preparing you for the tools you need, setting your goals, how to warm up and stretch, and gives you a self-test so you can get your starting level. The book expertly guides you from your current level, helping you advance beyond what you thought you could do. The pictures and explanations will take you from "Ha, I can't even do 10 sit-ups at this point." to "Ha! I'm doing sit-ups-LOTS and LOTS of sit-ups!"

Ready to get started? Seven weeks isn't that long is it? Just think about it-in just 49 days you can improve the part of you that is physically responsible for all of your moves! I think if you grab this book from any nationwide or online retailers, you won't regret it. Your mind and body will be stronger after you take the challenge.

  1. I need to check this out. I am doing some exercises for my back and have noticed that they are using those core muscles which are truly pathetic. Thanks for the information.

  3. This is the first book I have heard of focusing just on sit-ups. It sounds like a must read. I definitely need to strengthen my core and proper form is probably what keeps your neck from getting involved in the sit-up. This is a must for me.
