So, here we go!
In my life this week...
Christmas! I so enjoyed celebrating with all my brothers and sisters (all 8 of them!). We went to church Christmas Eve for a candlelight service, opened presents at my mom's, and enjoyed a quiet night at home after the kids went to bed. Then, Christmas day, we got up, I snuck in a workout, opened our family presents and got ready for church. After church, we enjoyed Christmas dinner at my mom's. We spent the rest of the afternoon playing a fun new game - What's Yours Like? - with most of my siblings.
Mixed into all of that, the stomach flu spread its way through all our children. One minute they were fine, the next, one of them is sick. Then, for a day that one is fine, and then sick again. It was weird, but I think they are all finally over it, and I am very thankful for that!
I am inspired by...
Jesus, our Savior, the King of the world, who humbled himself to come to our sinful world and save us! The best gift ever!!
My favorite thing this week was...
playing games with my family, laughing and joking, getting out of our normal routine and having my husband home with us.
What's working/not working for me...
Working - I have been working on being more hands free - which basically means living more in the moment - less distractions, less time on technology, less multitasking. I have been doing better when I am with the kids, but I still need to keep working on being totally present after the kids go to bed.
Not working - I am having trouble being upset by drama going on and little things that happen to get under my skin. I want to grow thicker skin and focus more on all the positive things in my life.
Questions/thoughts I have...
What is there to celebrate on Christmas without celebrating Christ?
I'm reading...
Hands Free Mama by Rachel Macy Stafford, Encouragement for Today Devotional by Proverbs 31 Team, Creative Correction by Lisa Whelchel, lots of children's books!
I'm cooking...
Whole Chicken in the crockpot with sweet potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, garlic and spices. There is no better one pot meal! I've also been making a lot of peppermint, ginger and papaya leaf tea to help sick tummies.
I'm grateful for...
the love of so many, snuggle time with kids, a little break from work to slow down, thoughtful gifts, kombucha, peppermint oil, a husband who does the dirty work, good memories, dancing to Christmas music and so much more!!

Our Family - Christmas Eve
Sounds like a wonderful Christmas, (except the stomach flu). Beautiful photo. Happy New Year!

Thank you!! Yes, the flu was really a downer, but it makes you appreciate good health even more! :-)
