Friday Fun!

Living healthy natural lives is not always the easiest thing, which is why I started my blog - to inspire and help others live their best life healthfully and naturally. Friday Fun is my way of sharing a bit of my life with you, my readers and friends, and I hope you will be willing to share your thoughts and ideas with me too.

So, here we go!

In my life this week...
probably the worst week for my teething daughter yet! And it is amazing how that affect affects everyone else in the family. The other kids act up because they aren't getting as much attention (since the only way teething daughter stops crying is to be held), I act up because I am going nuts with all the crabbiness, and my husband acts up because he just wants to come home to a happy family, and we have fallen far short.
On a more positive note, we are really looking forward to celebrating Father's Day and our 7 year wedding anniversary on Sunday!

I am inspired by...
slowing down....I think that by seriously slowing down my life and trying to breathe in each moment - appreciate what is happening in any particular minute, instead of always racing onto the next one or anticipating the future moments, I can see the beauty in my life and all the gifts in my life so much better!

My favorite thing this week was...
having a sisters' girls' night. I have 5 sisters, and they are all beautiful women! There is hardly anything better than being with them, laughing, chatting, and just being us.

What's working/not working for me...
Working - Bible Time. We have started a nightly Bible time for our whole family to come together and study a bit of the Bible. We also have prayer time and state our "high" and "low" moment of the day. It has been such a great way to connect after those long days.

Not working - Well, I miss my husband like crazy when he works such long hours. I look at that as a good thing though. At least, I do miss him. :-) Just hard to deal with everything as the lone adult sometimes.

Questions/thoughts I have...
Still debating whether I should homeschool our son or not...I am also wondering and questioning how I can slow my life down and appreciate each moment as it is - not rushing into the next moment, not squeezing it with as much stuff/work/multitasking as possible.

Things I'm working on...
making a list of 1000 things I am thankful for. I have been reading a new book, 1000 Gifts (see below), which has inspired me to try this challenge. It is awesome! The book is awesome and this new goal is awesome. I am finding that I appreciate all the little things more, and I can see the beauty in the ugly moments. Don't get me wrong, those moments can still run me down, but my attitude and reaction is slowly improving.

I'm reading...
A Time to Laugh, A Time to Cry by Bonnie Wasser, Resurrection Year by Sheridan Voysey and 1000 Gifts by Ann Voskamp

I'm cooking...
Crockpot Chicken Wraps, Buffalo Steak, ground chicken sliders with cilantro and sweet potato fries, strawberry mint walnut salad

I'm grateful for...
a lot! I think I have written down over 200 things I am thankful on my list of 1000 things, so far. Here are a few: healthy lungs as my children scream, summer breezes, chubby cheeks, smooth creamy dark chocolate, forgiveness, ability to release emotion through tears, snuggling.

A photo, video, link, or quote to share...
In honor of my husband as a great father, I wanted to share the most recent picture of him with our kids.
Happy Father's Day, honey!

  1. I think it is a great idea to "breathe in each moment - appreciate what is happening in any particular minute." We are missing out on so much by not doing this. I tried it this weekend when I went to NYC and really appreciated all the sights that I saw.

    1. I am so glad that you tried this out, Maryann! Isn't it amazing how it changes your perspective and your experiences when you actually take the time to appreciate all that is happening in a single moment?
