Friday Fun!

Living healthy natural lives is not always the easiest thing, which is why I started my blog - to inspire and help others live their best life healthfully and naturally. I want to give you examples of how I am doing it through weekly updates, and I am hoping some of you will be willing to share your thoughts and ideas too.

So, here we go! I hope this helps and inspires all of you!

In my life this week...
Let's see here - I will focus on the positives. I started teaching another new class at the fitness center where I work, my kids got to go outside one day when it actually stopped raining or snowing for awhile, I am going on a little date with my hubby today after a long week of work for him.(he got home at 1:30 am the other night after leaving for work at 8:30 am)

I am inspired by...
people who go against the grain. They share their faith no matter what the cost, ride their bikes with their kids across the Americas despite lots of criticism, quit their jobs when it is obvious they don't believe in what they are doing, you know - that sort of thing.

My favorite thing this week was...
knowing my husband was done working on Thursday night and has a couple days off. It gets rough when you are the only adult home with the kids all day for 4 straight days in a row.

What's working/not working for me...
Working -My kids have been whining sooooo much this week. I understand it is hard when you are cooped up in the house from October through April - combine that with no sunshine, and it isn't a good combo. But, the whining drives me crazy! Thankfully, I had a few things up my sleeve to try to curb this. First, I tried telling them they had to go a whining room (our laundry room) and stay there until they are done whining. That worked pretty well for my son. But, my daughter is so stubborn I think she would whine all day long. Then, I tried having them repeat a Bible passage about not whining or arguing, instead shining like stars. This passage I am talking about is Philippians 2:14-15. This seems to work fairly well with both kids. It calms them down as they say it, and my daughter doesn't like the effort she has to put in to repeat all the big words. Plus, each time we talk about what it means, and I am hoping it is starting to sink in. What are your tips/tricks for stopping the whining?

Not working - my knees. This week both of my knees have hurt me on and off. Not good.

Questions/thoughts I have...
Why does our country as a whole think it is okay to murder unborn babies, but it is not okay to explode a bomb or shoot up a school of children? (see more of what I am talking about in the link at the end of this post)

Things I'm working on...
planning a well-needed trip to somewhere warm for next winter. This has helped give me something awesome to look forward to during this snowy April.

I'm reading...
The Strong-Willed Child by Dr. James Dobson - another really good book for all parents!  Unglued Devotional by Lysa TerkHurst (I am reading it again, because it is that good) Changing Gears: A Family Odyssey to the End of the World by Nancy Sathre Vogel for review

I'm cooking...
Roasted Chicken, Italian Chicken Crockpot Soup, Crockpot Turkey Meatballs, Coconut Chocolate Bark, Squash and Scrambled Eggs (trust me, it is delicious!)

I'm grateful for...
everything! I am even trying to be grateful for the weather we are having. At least, it isn't a blizzard like in North Dakota. With all that has gone on this week with the tragedies around the country, I am extremely thankful for my healthy, happy family.
