Living healthy natural lives is not always the easiest thing, which is
why I started my blog - to inspire and help others live their best life
healthfully and naturally. I want to give you examples of how I am doing
it through weekly updates, and I am hoping some of you will be willing
to share your thoughts and ideas too.
So, here we go! I hope this helps and inspires all of you!
In my life this week...
we got 16 inches of snow in one day. I shoveled our driveway three times, and it still needed more shoveling. But, I actually enjoyed it. The snow was falling beautifully. I dragged my hubby out in the snow for a kiss and a snowball down his neck. Plus, it was my daughter, Kailana's, 2nd birthday this week. We had a little party planned, but it was so snowy, nobody could come. They came later on in the week instead. She loved it!
I am inspired by...
someone who picks themself up when they are down, instead of staying down.
My favorite thing this week was...
waking my daughter up on her birthday. I felt so blessed to have had her as my daughter for 2 whole years. It was a special moment as we snuggled.
What's working/not working for me...
Working
- Christmas cards are kind-of working. I got cards, my son is drawing beautiful pictures to go in some of them, and now I just to type up a little something to add in. We'll see if I can get this all done in time.
Not
working - my husband's work schedule. He has been working overtime a LOT! He didn't even get to see Kailana at all on her birthday. It just makes me sad when the kids ask about him, and I have to keep telling them I don't know when he will be home.
Questions/thoughts I have...
What can I do to support my husband?
Things I'm working on...
making holiday treats, being patient with my kids, and trying to find things about winter I like
I'm reading...
Gods and Kings by Lynn Austin
I'm cooking...
shrimp pasta, a taco/pinto bean casserole type thing, chocolate bars, peanut butter/raisin chewy bars,
I'm grateful for...
my husband's days off, sunshine, my family, and Whole Foods grocery stores nearby!
A photo, video, link, or quote to share...
Kailana on her birthday! Those two things sticking out of the cake are candles - handmade by my children. :-)
Wow 16 inches of snow! That is a lot to shovel, but I also enjoy shoveling until my back starts to hurt. Happy birthday to your daughter! Kailana's birthday picture is adorable, and the candles are fantastic that are made by your children.

Try hard to remember that all that overtime is for the family. We were a military family and my husband was gone for weeks, months at a time. If we don't make a big deal of it, the children won't. We celebrated holidays and special days when he was available. A birthday party on "the day" with friends and a special celebration with dad when he can, is a little extra special. Who doesn't like 2 parties, no matter what the size. It isn't always easy and hopefully the overtime won't be necessary forever.
ReplyDeleteYou are doing much better with your holiday preparations than I am and I have no excuses for being behind.
Thanks for the reminder! I will try to be thankful for the time I do have with my husband.
