Friday Fun - Thanksgiving Edition

Living healthy natural lives is not always the easiest thing, which is why I started my blog - to inspire and help others live their best life healthfully and naturally. I want to give you examples of how I am doing it through weekly updates, and I am hoping some of you will be willing to share your thoughts and ideas too.

So, here we go! I hope this helps and inspires all of you!

In my life this week...
my husband had two days of being on-call, which meant working until almost 11 pm at night. Those made for very longgggg days of missing him. Sometimes you just want to talk to someone older than the age of 4. :-) He did get Thanksgiving off, which was fantastic! We celebrated with my family, which was a huge houseful of fun! I started a new tradition of having a scavenger hunt after the big meal. Not only does it add fun memories to race around the neighborhood on foot trying to find everything on the list, but it is great exercise!

I am inspired by...
my husband, who after working such long days would come home, patient and loving, and take our screaming 8 week old daughter from my arms for his turn. He is a great husband and father!

My favorite thing this week was...
having my husband home for Thanksgiving and being with my whole family of 10, plus all their significant others and their children. It was a lot of people, chaos and drama, but I wouldn't miss it for the world!

What's working/not working for me...
Working -my workouts! I have been so stinking sore this week, and it has been great to still get my daily workouts in despite having three kids all by myself all day. It gives me a great stress-reliever and makes me feel so strong!

Not working - sleep. My 8 week old is not sleeping through the night, of course. In fact, she doesn't even sleep 2-3 hours at a time most nights. My husband and I are dead tired, and some days I feel like my body is seriously going to just cave in and collapse. So, I have been trying to figure out how to get her to sleep better, and I am not having much success.

Questions/thoughts I have...
How am I so blessed when I deserve it so little?

Things I'm working on...
trying to be patient with my husband's long days and wacky schedule, cooking healthy homemade meals for my family, keeping my house clean, and keeping my mind sane.

I'm reading...
so many books that I can't keep them all straight. I just grab whichever one is closest when I have a moment to sit down and nurse my daughter. But, usually that time goes to refereeing my other two kids or taking deep breaths... :-) So, I am not making much progress in any of the books.

I'm cooking...
honestly, I am having a hard time remembering what I have cooked. But, I do know this. Thanksgiving doesn't have to be a day of outrageous unhealthy eating. You can have a fairly healthy, homemade, organic Thanksgiving meal, and enjoy each bite!

I'm grateful for...
so very very much. Where do I begin? This is what I should say each week, because it is the truth. I heard a saying this week that I keep running through my head, because it keeps me grateful. "You can't possibly be stressed out and thankful at the same time." Every time I find myself feeling at my wit's end, I think of things I am thankful for, and that stressed out feeling disappears instantly. :-)

A photo, video, link, or quote to share...

Despite my camera breaking this week, I have a cute picture of my daughter, Brynn, enjoying her bath in the big bath tub.
