Moving In and Moving On...

My husband, three little ones and I moved this past weekend from Michigan to Minnesota.(from cold to more cold - what am I thinking???) For those of you who have moved with little kids, you can understand that I am feeling like my mind got lost in some box I packed and I can't find the right box to retrieve it. So, I apologize if I am a little slow with postings this week.

Despite all the boxes, clutter and the massive to-do list, my family and I are starting to settle in a bit, and we are excited about all the great things God has in store for us here in St. Paul, MN. It was unbelievably hard to say good-bye to our dear friends back in Michigan. In fact, I think I cried more the last week I was there than I have cried in the last 5 years of my life. It was stinkin' hard to leave my friends and clients who I have cried with, laughed with and sweated with for the last 3 years - some of the best people I have known are not in my daily life anymore. That part just stinks.

But, yesterday, I got to see my youngest sister and my godchild win her championship volleyball game. I got to go to church and have family dinner with almost all of my very large family. I got to cheer on the Packers with other Packer fans. I got to see my children's faces light up as they played with their cousins, aunts and grandparents. This morning I got to see the light shining in my husband's eyes after he came back from a meeting as he starts a new job and new chapter of his life.

All those things make this moving time of our life emotional, full of sadness and joy. And as I look behind me and look ahead of me I see so much brightness and blessings. I can't help but feel so thankful that I am moving in and moving on!

  1. I believe that changes are always good and that the friends we make along the way, if they are true friends, will remain our friends no matter where we go. It sounds like you and your family have a lot of good things to look forward to. Best wishes always!!

  2. It will all settle out eventually. Being around family will be a big help. As a military family, we moved several times. Some moves were more difficult than others (getting caught in a 100 degree below zero blizzard with two young ones, a dog, a cat, and a car full of plants and 10 cases of jars of canned vegetables was fun), but each move held the promise of a new adventure. I think attitude is one of the most important things for a successful move.

  3. Yes!!!! This is what I wanted for you! Hearing about your Sunday (I thought of you and Adam all day) made it a little easier to handle you being gone. I am glad all is well.

    1. Things are going well, but my heart is still aching when I think I can't just go and see you whenever I want. I worked out by myself yesterday, and it was icky...
