My hubby's 30th birthday is coming up, and I wanted to get him a gift that shows him my support and encouragement along his newest goal - to write and publish his first book.
He is thinking of trying to self-publish, so I know he needs to learn a lot before he tries to do that. That is why the book, How to Market a Book by Lori Culwell was the perfect book to help him in his next steps after he finishes writing it.
This book is jam-packed with not only good information, but practical steps you can take immediately to help market your book. Even though my husband isn't done writing his book yet, he could use many of the tips in this book already. I keep telling him to start promoting himself (as weird as that sounds) now, so that when his book is done, he will have a great social media following, a great website, and a large network of people who will help his book become successful! We all know husbands don't always listen to their wives, (I have no clue why) so it will be great for him to read this book and put the author's tips into action.
The author, Lori Culwell, understands the importance of having great online presence, and she sets you up to become a successful author. She talks in great detail about having a great website, the importance of marketing, using social networking, pitching to traditional press and finding groups of people who read what you write.
If you have the goal of becoming a successful author, no matter how you plan on getting published, or know someone who is working towards that goal, this book is a MUST-READ! Find it on Amazon in ebook format or in paperback.

I will definitely tell my brother about this book and your information. He just had his children's book published (that he wrote and my daughter illustrated) recently and wants to write more books, so this would be helpful to him. Thanks for the info.

Sounds like a book full of sound advice. Most think writing a book is the hardest part until they finish their book and try to get it published. Laying some groundwork in advance is a good idea. Unfortunately the PR aspect is very important.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to your husband on his venture.
Cara - thanks so much for the post! Lori and I were trying to give people truly actionable information, I am glad to hear it works :) We hope to hear from your husband one day with a submission to Booktrope.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review. My husband is also an aspiring writing, so this may be a useful read for him.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely gift--encouragement and method together!
