Step By Step Guide to Cooking Pumpkin

Yup, I am on a cooking kick these last few weeks. I think it is because my hot stove keeps me warm during these chilly days. Plus, I am having fun using the rest of my garden produce in new recipes.

If you are like me, you probably have some pretty big pumpkins lying around. How do you cook those massive beasts? Let me take you along on my pumpkin journey...

First wash and cut your pumpkin into halves or quarters and get all the seeds and ooey gooeys out.

Then, chop the pumpkin into smaller chunks to prepare them to be steamed.

Steam them for several minutes until you can easily stick a fork through the pumpkin flesh.

Cut the skin off of the steamed pumpkin.

Add the skinned pumpkin chunks with 1/2 cup or so of water to a blender or food processor to puree them.

Whalla!

When you have some delicious pureed pumpkin, then you get to enjoy it however you want. Use it to make soups, add to pasta sauce, or make a delicious pie, like I did. Yum!!!
