The Little Rose Book Review and Giveaway

Now that your children are getting excited about gardening with you, I have the perfect book to make the connection from gardening to reading - The Little Rose.

 

The Little Rose by Sheri Fink is a heartwarming story about a little rose who grows up in a weedbed and, because it's all she's ever known, believes that she's the weed. After feeling quite down, she is discovered and replanted amongst other roses who treat her as the beautiful flower she is.

I loved the story, as did my two children. I love the message that the story brings out - that children should embrace who they really are despite their current environments and truly believe in themselves. I really appreciate what the author, Sheri Fink, says about this book, "My mission is to inspire children and adults to live their best lives. I want children to know how precious they are and to love themselves no matter what is going on in their lives and no matter what anyone else says. I'm delighted to be able to use my experiences to bring positivity to the lives of others, especially children."

I also have to give props to the illustrator, Mary Erikson Washam, because the illustrations in the book are beautiful!

The book is written for children, ages 5-10, but my three year old son loved this book, and I think he really go the message. I recommend it for any age of child, because this is a message every child should hear.
