Barbara's Bakery Review and Giveaway

I am sure some of you have heard or seen Barbara's Bakery items in the natural/organic section of your grocery store. I know I have. I was on a Barbara's Bakery Shredded Oats kick for awhile, after switching from the Quaker Oats Oatmeal Squares. The reason why I switched from Quaker Oats to Barbara's Bakery was that Barbara's is such a healthier, more natural option.

Now, Barbara's Bakery is going through a natural makeover, and I want to share a little about it with you. They are celebrating 40 years of natural food heritage with four new delicious cereals and a completely new sustainable carton design.

Barbara's proudly debuts three new High Fiber cereals, each offering at least 40 percent of daily fiber needs and 50 percent whole grains. They are also offering new Multigrain Puffins, the newest addition to the popular Puffins cereal line, with gluten free and Prebiotic NutraFlora health benefits.

And get this - starting this fall, all Barbara's cereals come in 100% recycled, sustainable GreenChoice cartons. That is North America's only certified recycled paperboard. Kudos to Barbara's for such an eco-friendly upgrade!!

Like I said before, my personal fav of Barbara's cereals is the Original Shredded Oats. I love how it stays crunchy on the inside while getting a little soft on the outside from my milk. Hmmm... I just love them!!

I also tried out their Puffins Original, which I haven't tried before. I thought it would be similar to the Shredded Oats, but it wasn't. They are crunchier and have an added sweetness. I did like them quite a bit, though not as much as my hubby!

Another variety I liked was the Shredded Minis Blueberry Burst. It was quite tasty, and I am huge fan of blueberries! Perfect morning meal!

Their newest addition, the Multigrain Puffins, were really quite good too. They only have 6 grams of sugar, which is nice. And they are gluten free, which is great for those of you on that diet. The only downside to this one was the caramel color in the ingredients. I am just not a fan of any added colors.

One of my favorite things about the cereal line is that many of them, my favs included, have a great amount of protein. For instance, Shredded Oats has 6 grams of protein per serving! I loved that, because our need for protein is so great!

Barbara's Bakery is encouraging us all to have our own all-natural food makeover by entering their Natural Makeover Contest. 19. At our home we try and do something like OAMC but we do it every other weekend. So on the weekends my kids & I get together and make batches of pancakes, waffles, egg mcmuffins, breakfast burritos, etc and then freeze them. With the pancakes and waffles they get to add own toppings to mixtures (candies, fruit, etc).

So during the week we just pull out something and they prepare it. And they think of new ideas to try. I love to watch them be independent with this activity.

  20. We have never been to Napa Valley. Although if funds were available we would! Our vacations usually consist of camping either in parks close by or even the backyard. I like the backyard because we stay a few days but if anything goes wrong we are not stuck.

  21. We have started a garden project over the spring where they are doing everything organically. So they do pest control, worm compost, composting, seed saving, and such. We then have been able to have organically kid grown veggies.

We also have been learning more and more about better ways to recycle.
