Life's DHA for Mothers and Giveaway

Your nutrition before, during, and after pregnancy and while nursing plays an important role in your baby's development, as well as in your own well-being. However, most women do not get enough DHA in their diets. Studies suggest that infants born to mothers whose diets contain plenty of omega-3 fatty acids (DHA) have an edge in terms of early development. Whether your child goes to Harvard is unpredictable, but we do know for sure that DHA is critical to brain and vision development, among many other things. DHA may also help prevent preterm labor and protect against postpartum depression.

The primary source of DHA is fatty fish, a dietary choice that is sadly not a staple of the typical Western diet. You need to be careful if you are a fish fanatic, because some fish is high in mercury and other toxins. Fortunately, there is DHA in certain prenatal products and fortified foods that are making it easier for women to include this important nutrient in their diets every day.

Life'sDHA, a fish-free and sustainable source of DHA from algae, is also found in many food products moms can cook with to get more DHA such as Horizon Organic Milk Plus DHA Omega 3Gold Circle Farm Eggs with Omega-3, CocoPreggers Dark Chocolate Truffles by COCOXAN, and my personal favorite - Good Cacao Superfood Chocolate.

I love life'sDHA, because it is made from the same source that fish get their omega-3s, algae, but it is grown in FDA-inspected facilities so it eliminates the harmful contaminants potentially found in fish. You can learn a TON about the importance of DHA and the quality of their products by browsing around their website. As you know, I am a huge advocate of healthy and organic eating, and these products are a great addition to our diets. Since I am in my third trimester, and my baby's needs for omega-3s are at their highest, I am adding omega-3s to my diet as much as possible.

I have thoroughly enjoyed all the yummy chocolate with life'sDHA in it! Like I said before, my favorite is the Good Cacao Superfood Chocolate, made with 72% dark cacao, raw organic ingredients and of course, life'sDHA Algal oil. The best part is, I honestly didn't taste any fishy or funky taste, like you get with some DHA products. Plus, get this - there are only 117 calories per serving, or 234 calories for the whole chocolate bar!!!!!! Pure yumminess and so healthy too!

Check out all of the life'sDHA products, and find them at your nearest grocery store or online. This is a great way to make easy improvements in your health today! Who knew how easy it was to be a Healthy Mom and have a Happy Baby?

  1. These sound delicious. My daughter who is nursing her daughter loves chocolate and will like these. I'll have to pass the word along to her.
