Massaging Your Baby Review and Giveaway

Attention Moms and Dads!! This book review could change the way you parent, could change your relationship with your child, and could make a huge change in your child's health and your own.

Massaging Your Baby: The Joy of Touch Time is a fabulous book by Dr. Elaine Fogel Schneider. Dr. Elaine is one of the country's leading authorities on baby massage therapy. This book gives you effective techniques for a healthier, happier, more relaxed child and those benefits also apply to you as the parent and massage giver. You can read more about the benefits of massage on Dr. Elaine's website.

I have learned so much from this invaluable book. Let me share with you just a few of the benefits that your touch can have -

  • For children, it encourages relaxation; improves sleep patterns; reduces discomfort from teething, colic, and gas; strengthens digestive and circulatory systems; and does so much more.

  • For parents; it nurtures bonding increases communication, promotes parenting skills and dramatically reduces stress levels.

  • Touch can be invigorating, increasing blood flow, relieving muscle aches and pains and fostering more oxygenation to blood cells.

  • The massage strokes can stimulate muscle tone, facilitating energy flow so that your babies body will tap the source of energy form within.

Can you say amazing??? To know that you have so much power in the loving touches of your own hands - that is truly awesome to me. I love this quote from page 13 of the book, "Touch cannot be considered an 'add on' or a luxury - something one 'spoils' a child with. Touch is necessary, just like the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the sunshine that nourishes us."

I have come to realize that more and more as I have read through this book. It opened my eyes to so many simple truths and so many awesome little miracles that happen with massage that you don't see.

I began to massage both my little 1 1/2 week old baby girl (Her cord fell off after a couple days. You want to wait to massage infants until the cord is off) and my 2 1/2 year old son as I was reading this book. This book inspired me to start right away and never stop with this special gift we can give to our children each day.

My baby girl loves the attention and the soft touches of massage. She opens her eyes up even brighter, and she just quietly soaks up my love through my words and my massaging touches. My older son now asks for his massage every day! He loves the special attention, the calm and relaxation, and the reassurance of love! Little do both of my children know how many other benefits they are receiving as I massage them.

As the one doing the massages, I also treasure each one. It is a special time with each of my children, and I can't help but feel more relaxed myself by the end of the massage.

Now, I could go on and on about the awesome tips in this book including: when's the best time to massage, different massage strokes you can use, songs and rhymes you can use and so much more. But, instead, I will say this - I recommend this book to EVERY PARENT. I think that this book is worth much much more than the small price of $12.44 you can buy it for off Amazon.com. Like I said at the beginning of this review, this book and all it offers can change your life and your children's lives. You can't put a price on that, now, can you??

  1. I am a follower! This sounds like a great book. Our first baby is due in February (eek, only 6.5 weeks from now!) and I have been told how great baby massage is, only I don't know how to do it.

  20. I learned that Massage is individualistic to you and your child. For a massage, the optimum state for your baby to be in is the state of “quiet alertness.”

  60. I learned, BABY TOUCHTIME® MASSAGE is useful for babies, approximately 3 weeks of age (after the umbilical cord has fallen off), to approximately 7 or 8 months of age, before they have started crawling and/or walking. Sometimes children with special needs may be older than 8 months of age, because they have not started crawling, and their motor skills are delayed.
