World Vision Catalog and Giveaway - Give a Gift. Change a Life!

I am asking everyone to please read this post. It is very important to me to share this amazing opportunity we all have!

I don't know about you, but I feel extremely blessed in my life. I have jobs that I love, a wonderful husband, beautiful children, loving Savior, more material possessions than I deserve, and I could go on and on.

During this time of year, as everyone is talking about what they are thankful for, how about thinking about how we can share those blessings with others?

I was introduced to a wonderful group that can help you do just that: World Vision. They work in the US and Internationally to bring about sustainable change! You can check out exactly what they are doing, who they are helping, how they are speaking out, and see what you can do right on their website. I am super excited about World Vision and the opportunity they are giving us all to make a HUGE difference in many lives!

What is better than giving two gifts for the price of one – honor a person by name and give a gift that has real-life implications for a family in need? You can find a huge variety of gifts that can be purchased through the World Vision Gift Catalog, as 89 percent of donations received go to programs helping children and families overcome poverty in nearly 100 countries.

Each of the 35 pages in the catalog overflows with gifts, inspiring stories and photos. The catalog offers more than 100 poverty-fighting gifts ranging in price from $16 to $39,000 that can be purchased in the name of a family member, teacher, co-worker or child, including many affordable items under $30. You can also sponsor a child or family!

Giving a gift from the catalog is more than making a cash donation in a loved one’s name; you can select items that match the hobby or interest of the recipient, for example:

- A gardener may like hybrid or drought-resistant seeds for a farmer ( $17), page 22

- The sports enthusiast could get a kick out of four soccer balls donated to a school ( $32), page 31

- A co-worker might appreciate job training supplies given to a women needing skills and business training ($25), page 14

- The kid in all of us would understand the importance of nurturing playful imagination ($35 provides $385 worth of new toys), page 16

- A foodie knows the importance of eggs, milk and meat in a diet and would see the value of a gift of a goat and two chickens ($100), page 5

I am so excited to share World Vision with all of you today. I am asking you to at least take a look at their website. You don't have to have a ton of money to make a difference in someone's life. Please share this website with friends and family also. I personally am excited to provide safety for a girl who has been exploited and sexually and physically abused. This happens all the time in Cambodia, and I am excited to help prevent further exploitation. I also would like to provide a microloan for a hardworking mom, so she can start her own business and support her family. What gifts are close to your heart?

To order World Vision gifts, visit the web site. To order by phone or to request a print catalog, call toll-free (888) 511-6511.

As a thank you to all of you for considering World Vision, we are giving away a beautiful handcrafted Thai bracelet for one of my awesome readers! Isn't it gorgeous?

  19. Bophas story was heart breaking. She was raped, beaten, and left for dead when she was 8 years old. He rubbed dirt and gravel in her eyes to keep her spirit from coming after him. Her mother heard her cries and found her. World Vision heard her story and offered their help. She's had counseling and medical care thanks to World Vision.

  24. i love the gardener opportunity! Just so it's been said - I wish the seeds weren't hybrid. You cannot save hybrid seeds, they must be bought year after year. Ideal sustainability would be that the farmer could save his seed to grow again and again.

  34. Joseph, from Kenya, had a barren farm 12 years ago. World Vision gave him the seeds and skills to plant and harvest, even teaching him how to put up water for drought. He's now spreading his knowledge to others in his community - I love that!
